Pretty much the first thing most folks think about when they hear “1776” is the founding of the United States of America. However, there’s another remarkable event that happened during that eventful year: the founding of Mission San Juan Capistrano.

is a living testament to the persistence of the Catholic Church. Having survived this long against everything from insurrection to an
earthquake that decimated much of the Great Stone Church, its perseverance continues to inspire awe.

Beyond its everyday beauty, spiritual aura and historical ambiance, there are many events
and activities to enjoy at Mission San Juan
Capistrano. Bringing the kids with you? Head on over to the Mission Clubhouse. Here, tykes can learn how to weave a basket in the
authentic style of the Native Americans who originally inhabited the site.

Need More Fun? Mission: Accomplished

Any number of events and festivals take place here throughout the year, providing the
perfect backdrop for lots of fun. There’s a summer concert series at the mission. Every Saturday evening during the season, between 5:30 and 9:30, bands perform Music Under the Stars to enchant and delight audiences with classics and nostalgic favorites.
